What is meditation?Meditation is the first step in the path of realization of self, realization of GOD. It is by meditation that a person can truly connect with his soul. It is a journey within where you travel consciously from your present consciousness to your deeper consciousness and finally will connect to your inner consciousness.
How to meditate?
The first step in meditation is to stop all bodily functions such as movement, seeing, speaking, hearing and thinking.
Posture: You may sit in the traditional cross-legged posture or in any other posture that is comfortable. If you wish, you can even sit in a chair. The most important thing is to keep your back straight.
Place : Meditation should be practiced in a peaceful environment, where you are not disturbed by external noises. But I recommend that you select a special place to meditate and make a habit of meditating in the same place every time. By doing this, your subconscious mind will automatically connect to this place and will come to a state where you feel more confident and peaceful.
After you select a comfortable place and posture, relax yourself for a minute or two. Keep your eyes closed since eyes are doors to the mind. Do not chant any mantra. When the body relaxes, the consciousness travels to the next zone - mind and intellect. Numerous thoughts will play around on the surface of the mind initially, but these will soon settle and disappear, if you try and ignore them. Just relax and observe the breath. Here it is important to note that you should not do conscious breathing, but just breathe normally. This is the way to meditate.This is the first step in your journey of finding your self.
